Chipley Arthur Clopton passed away peacefully on January 2, 2018. He was born in Pensacola Florida, the eldest child of Captain Sidney and Agnes (Lockwood) Clopton in 1936.
He grew up in an era of hard times which instilled in him values which carried him throughout life: Catholic faith, hard work, family ties and good humor. Chipley learned the skill of net fishing and shrimping at an early age. These early careers gave him the talent of making shrimp nets, repairing nets, making purse seine nets, and cast nets. He eventually owned and operated a net shop. He was a Master Mason of Escambia Lodge 15.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wives, Lillie B. Clopton and Martha Clopton; brother Jerry Clopton, and granddaughter Crystal Ann Dunaway-Robinson. He is survived by daughters, Kathy Kay (Johnny) Stringer and Deborah Dawn Coburn; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His Sisters Loice Jackson, Shelia Jernigan, Joyce (Franklin) Edgar, Gail (Vincent) Baglioni. His brothers: Sidney Jeff (Merelyn) Clopton, Johnnie (Joyce) Clopton, Tommy (Patrica) Clopton, and David (Debbie) Clopton. He leaves numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
